Spring Clothing Drive and St. Barbara Monastery Pilgrimage
St. Michael Teen SOYO is conduction a clothing drive for the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank who help the homeless and low-income families throughout the San Fernando Valley. Clean out your closets, garages and storage units and bring your excess clothing to the church throughout the month of May. The Food Bank has a special need for children’s and men’s clothing, but all types of clothing are welcome. Special boxes will be present in the foyer of the Community Center for your donations.
Raies-Murr Educational Trust Scholarship
Only members, in good standing of St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church (Van Nuys) or St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Christian Cathedral (Los Angeles) and who have been accepted to or are currently enrolled in a publicly supported (not private) institution of higher learning, including eligible publicly supported vocational, technical and trade schools, are eligible to apply for a Raies-Murr Educational Scholarship. 2008 Summer Camp
Register your child for St. Nicholas Summer Camp as soon as possible. Three sessions have been announced: 1) July 13-19, 2) July 20-26, and 3) July 27 to August 2. Antiochian Women Scholarships
Each year the Antiochian Women awards scholarships, usually in the amount of $500, to help women in our parishes continue their education in order to improve their circumstances and those of their families. These scholarships are awarded at the summer meetings at the Antiochian Village. Application forms are available on the bulletin board in the Community Center foyer. The application deadline is June 1, 2008. Interested women can direct their inquiries and/or send applications to Khouriye Helene Hajal, NAB Scholarship Chairperson (e-mail: <hhajal@sympatica.ca>). Qualifications for recipients include: 1) applicant must be a female over 26 years of age; 2) a member in good standing of a parish of the Antiochian Archdiocese, 3) actively involved in her parish; 4) must be registered in an academic or trade program of study; 5) must demonstrate financial need.

2009 Convention Exceeds 600 Room Reservations!
We will be hosting the 49th Antiochian Archdiocese Convention at The J.W. Desert Springs Marriott Resort and Spa from July 19-26, 2009. We have a guaranteed room rate of $133.00 per night (plus 9.16% room tax). Rooms are going fast. If you have not yet made your hotel reservation we encourage you to do so, as soon as possible.
