Join us for this historic event to honor our founders, celebrate our community, and envision our future.
St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church of Van Nuys, California, will soon celebrate its 50th Anniversary. The late Very Rev. Paul Romley, the Dean of St. Nicholas Cathedral, presided at the first Divine Liturgy of our parish on Sunday, January 12, 1969. In remembrance of this historic event, a 50th Anniversary Banquet will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills, California. His Eminence Metropolitan JOSEPH will preside at the weekend festivities, beginning with the Great Vespers Service at 4 p.m. on our property, followed by an evening banquet. Parishioners, friends and guests will gather to remember and honor the past, and to pray as we continue our vision for the future. Our celebration will be culminated at a hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning, January 27 at the parish.
One of our major objectives is to maximize the attendance for this historical event. Tickets for the Saturday evening banquet will be only $50 for adults and $25 for children 9 years of age and under.
Additionally, a 50th Anniversary Journal will be published to commemorate the past and to celebrate the beginning of a new era, with the completion of the construction of our new Church. A copy of the Journal will be given to each family attending the banquet and will be mailed to all contributors not able to be with us. This is your “golden” opportunity to send a personal message to all who will be joining us at our celebration.
Your generous support will help to make this a successful and memorable event. We’d be grateful for your contribution and hope that you will also be able to join us.
